Central Bureau of Health Intelligence (CBHI) is the Nodal Agency under the Directorate General of Health Services for Collection, Compilation and publication of primary and secondary data of Communicable & Non Communicable Diseases along with infrastructure data and disseminate through annual publication i.e. National Health Profile report. It supervises and monitors various training & workshops organised by its training Centre& FSU.
CBHI, Headquarter at New Delhi is headed by a SAG level Medical Officer (with specialization in Public Health) from Central Health Services (CHS), and supported by officers from Indian Statistical Services, Subordinate Statistical Services. It has three units viz.-

Major Activities of CBHI
- (i) Publication of National Health Profile (NHP):-
CBHI collects primary as well as secondary data on various communicable and non- communicable diseases, human resource in health sector and health infrastructure from various Government organizations / departments of central and State / UT Govt. and publish NHP annually. This publication highlights relevant health information under Six(06) major themes viz. Demographic, Socio-economic, Health Status, Health Finance, Health Infrastructure and Human Resources for Health. - (ii) Capacity building through Training Programmes:-
For capacity building in health sector, CBHI conducts in-service training program for the officers and staffs working in Medical Record Department & Health Institutions of the Central / State governments, ESI, Defence and Railways and institutions through its various training centres. For efficient Health Information System (HIS) including use of Family of International Classification (ICD& ICF) in India, CBHI conducts training programme for Master trainers on ICD & ICF at RHSTC, Kharar (Mohali), Chandigarh. It also organizing sensitisation work shop on ICD & ICF in Hospitals and through its 6 FSUs. CBHI conducts around 50 batches of Trainings every year as per training calendar.
