- CBHI collects primary as well as secondary data on various communicable and non-communicable diseases, human resource in health sector and health infrastructure from various Government organizations/ departments to maintain and disseminate Heath Statistics through its annual publication “National Health Profile” which highlights relevant health information under six (06) major themes viz. Demographic, Socio-economic, Health Status, Health Finance, Health Infrastructure and Human Resources in Health.
- CBHI conducts in-service training programmes for the officers and staffs working in various Medical Record Department & health institutions of the Central/State governments, ESI, Defence and Railways as well as Private health institutions through its various training centres to develop human resources in Health Sector.
- CBHI has mandate for capacity building of Human Resources for efficient health information management including use of Family of International Classification (ICD & ICF) in India. CBHI conducts National Level training programme for Master trainers on ICD & ICF at RHSTC, Kharar (Mohali), Chandigarh. CBHI also organizes sensitization workshops on ICD & ICF in Govt. & Pvt. Hospitals.
- CBHI provides Internship to the students of National Universities and Institutes.
- CBHI execute technical training on Family of International Classifications (ICD & ICF) in India to promote development & use of WHO Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC) including the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD), the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), and other derived and related classifications.
